Founded in 2003, the Hertie School of Governance is the first professional school for public policy in Germany. The school combines academic excellence and a practice-orientation in its teaching and research and has established itself in the network of international public policy schools (offering joint degrees with Columbia University (New York), LSE (London) and SciencePo (Paris). With its special cluster on Organization, Management and Leadership, Hertie demonstrates its commitment to excellence in public management scholarship. Within this framework, several European and international projects have been and are being implemented, looking into issues such as the impacts of New Public Management-style reforms in European countries (COCOPS), current trends in public sector organization (part of the EU-funded COST Action IS0601) and management of government-citizen relations through e-government tools in US cities.
